Wang Bang is well-known Chinese writer, journalist and independent movie director. She began her career as a reporter and editor in several Chinese famous media, such as Southern Metropolis Daily. She has written fiction, film criticism, graphic novels, and cartoon scripts, as well as filming a documentary and a feature film, shown at numerous international film festivals. In 2006, Wang Bang directed a homosexual short film called “God Bless Big Aunt”, about a repetitive and depressing same-sex relationship. Beside LGBT rights, Wang Bang is also a human rights activist on woman’s rights, gender equality, trans gender’s rights and prostitutes’ rights. She contributes to the RNW’s Chinese website Helan Online.
